"They are American men. They fought for their country. They did not know how to quit. Not one is taken prisoner. That tells it to those who ask." - Colonel William Hayward, 369th infantry, from Harlem's Rattlers and the Great War
This is a clip taken from Heroes of Color: The Harlem Hellfighters. Written, animated, and produced by David Heredia in an attempt to educate the youth on the important part African Americans played in shaping this country's history. This specific part of the video helps to illustrate the racism and segregation that was the cause of conflict for so many blacks at the time.
